Delphi
Delphi is the project that I realized for my Thesis. It consists on the realization of a reduced tarot deck that contains the 22 major arcana.
The theme of this deck is Greek mythology (that’s why the name is Delphi, from Apollo’s oracle (“Oracle of Dephi”) Thus, studying this mythology, origin and meaning of the tarot, one or more characters are interrelated to different cards.
The main character of this project is Apollo, he’s the main inspiration behind this project, him and the inscription seen at the entrance of the oracle: “know thyself” (in ancient greek: “γνωθι σεαυτόν”) This inscription is the perfect example of how I see the Tarot and how my family has taught me to understand it: It’s not a magical divination tool, It’s a form of meditation, a way to know and understand ourselves.
That’s the reason why the logo and cover are inspired by the elements that represent this God; the god of the sun, arts, poetry, beauty, music and light.
